About
Believing that we are stronger together than apart, Heartland 100 focuses on sustainable charitable giving. As a group, we can gather thousands of dollars for charity and make better philanthropic decisions through democratic voting. Here's how Heartland 100 will work:
Membership
We want to gather at least 100 residents in Southern Illinois who wish to participate. Members should be able to commit to a charitable donation of $100.
Timeline
Our inaugural meeting is pending, but we will discuss which organizations to donate to. Each member contributes $100 at every meeting in order to vote.
Voting Process
Members will discuss different charitable organizations in the area who are accepting donations. After discussion, members will vote, and an organization will be chosen.
Donating
Once the cause or organization has been chosen, the combined total of $10,000 from members is awarded. Members will have a chance to choose another cause in the future.
How Can Charities Apply?
Organizations that qualify should be a 501(c)3 non-profit group or locally-recognized charity. Representatives from charitable organizations will be invited by members to present at the Heartland 100 meetings.
Representatives will be given 5 minutes to present on their organization. Once all organizations have presented, voting members will deliberate. Representatives are invited to stay to answer any questions members may have.
Organizations may not present at meetings more than once a year. Once a 12 month period has passed, organizations may be invited by voting members to present again on their latest cause they are soliciting donations for.
“Heartland People Care is a giving group where you can join community-minded people to provide a local charity or non-profit with much-needed help.”
